Working together

Hi Folks-

Sharon and I vowed last winter at this time that we were going to spend the last two weeks of February this year some place far, far away. We even decided on New Orleans, the city that oozes hospitality from its every pore and where you can eat beignets and drink cafe au lait in the morning at the Cafe du Monde, gobble oyster Po Boys for lunch, surprise yourselves for dinner and listen to jazz at night. We were believers, but we didn’t pull the trigger – we didn’t buy our tickets back last winter when we were so inspired. Then this summer we spent money working on our house and on furniture, so we ended up not going.

Well, things happen for a reason. One of our most important staff people went on vacation two weeks ago, and we made a personnel change and lost another employee, each of whom worked the morning to afternoon shift. Consequently, Sharon and I have been working every day from 5:30 til 2:30, having to work especially hard because there is still a shortage of staff in the deli and to top it off, Ted Allen has been on vacation as well, and he usually does his work and fills in for me and Sharon. Woe is us.

We of course have missed the entertainment of New Orleans, but it’s been energizing to work so hard, and fun to work hard with Sharon and to get it done when it’s something so important to us. Go us!
