the maurauding viking

Hi Folks-

So Sharon is going to a Medieval event, a reenactment of a Medieval society by the SCA, the Society for Creative Anachronism, a group Sharon’s sister Maggie has been involved in for years. Basically, 12,000 people are gathering in Pensic, Pennsylvania, recreating the dress and the activities and the culture of people in Medieval times.

She has her garb ready, more or less, and is planning on the food she’s going to bring. She’s going with Chelsea and she’s excited about the range of activities that will be open to her. There will be many craftsmen who demonstrate how they work, and many battles to watch, both individual and group. There’s going to be a dance pavilion open at all times where you can learn the dances of the period. And Sharon is looking forward to the food offerings, vendors who will be set up to sell their wares. She’s hoping to be able to buy a meat pie whenever she feels like it.

I’m just hoping that she doesn’t meet and fall for some marauding Viking who is a good dancer. And who tips well when he buys her a meat pie.

We have two new beers at the store, one made by Frost Beerworks in Hinesburg. It’s a bomber, 220z. bottle and it’s called Lush Double IPA. The name gives its own description of what the beer is. The other addition is made by Hermit Thrush Brewery, in Brattleboro. It’s a Belgian inspired ale. It’s called Party Guy, a “sour session ale” that comes in a 4-pack of hot pink cans.

We have Alaskan King Salmon tomorrow, such a treat. And we have littleneck clams and Pemaquid oysters.
