A racing road trip

Hi Folks-

I’ve been thinking about going to the races at Saratoga this August and bringing the whole family with me. Maybe get motel rooms in Saratoga and spend the night. Go to the races the first day and then spend the night and go to the races again on the second day. Then driving home, stopping at Massi’s restaurant in Glens Falls along the way. Would that be fun or what? Chelsea and I were talking about working on our handicapping skills before the trip. Getting an online version of The Racing Form is easy, that’s the paper my Dad used to use for handicapping the horses, and we can maybe do a little betting on some races leading up to us going to Saratoga. That’s what I need is a new gambling habit. Sharon’s pretty psyched. Anyway, I’ll let you know how things progress.

This is going to be a great weekend for being outdoors and we have outstanding fish coming in tomorrow. I bought two sides of Alaskan King Salmon. It’s still around $28 but this is the real deal. We have East Coast Halibut arriving too, as well as all the standards, like sword, arctic char, haddock.

We have the best swordfish you can get anywhere.

You could grill a Halibut filet, and try grilling clams like I talked about last week for an appetizer. A lot of people did try it, I know we ran out of clams, but I bought extra for tomorrow. You could also grill some of our Wild Gulf Shrimp which are only $12.90/lb or try some Bluepoint oysters served on the half shell. Anyway, we have great fish coming in tomorrow.

Fish arriving tomorrow:

  • Alaskan Cod, flash frozen at sea
  • Alaskan King Salmon
  • Halibut
  • Dayboat yellow tail sole
  • Sustainable Shetland Salmon
  • Dayboat Haddock
  • Yellowfin Tuna
  • Swordfish
  • Icelandic Arctic Char
  • 16/20 Wild Gulf Shrimp
  • 10/20 Dry Scallops
  • Bluepoint oysters
