Peter’s KY crush

Hi Folks-

The best meal Sharon and I had in Louisville, or the most fun maybe I should say, was an early lunch at a small Mexican restaurant called “Con Huevos”. It had been listed in a “Best of Louisville 2018” magazines that rated the most popular restaurants as well as the best mechanics and the best place to have your nails done. The article featured the 25 year old, James Beard semi-finalist, head chef Paco Garcia and included a full page picture of him, proudly emblazoned with tattoos, and sporting a wide open and confident smile. He said that the con huevos for the name spoke of the power of food. Anyway, I fell for him, and we took an uber into a far neighborhood with mostly housing and found him in an under construction place about the size of the old “That’s Life soup” down the street from our store.

The most compelling thing on the menu, and in the magazine critic’s opinion, was the Huevos Rancheros. Simple food, done perfectly with the best green sauce I’ve ever tasted. And the chef was there, beaming at his tiny but expanding restaurant. I love a good food critic.

Next time I’ll tell you about the $100 steak that Sharon talked me into getting while I was watching the Red Sox. A hundred dollars for a steak!!!!????
