Peter’s Christmas Chair

Hi Folks-

So Sharon and I have been fixing up the house the past few months. We’ve had some painting done, a benefit of which was finally getting rid of the wine stain on the living room ceiling. We’ve had the kitchen table refinished which was kinda fun. We hired someone using Front Porch Forum who advertised that she refinished furniture. I believe the sum total of her experience was that she had refinished a table and that someone told her it looked pretty good. Oh well, after many hours our table came out pretty good as well.

We bought a couch long enough and wide enough to really stretch out and take a Saturday afternoon nap. Hooray. And we bought an elegant wing back chair, which, along with the couch is now in our living room. And the most special thing of all, this was really fun, was we had our living room floor stripped and refinished. I really don’t know when I’ve seen Sharon so thrilled as when the floor was done and dry and we walked out onto it in our stocking feet.

Then finally, on the day before Christmas, I went back to Novello’s, where we bought the couch, to visit a chair that I had fallen in love with two months back when we first shopped for furniture. It was a dark blue leather club chair and ottoman that was so comfortable I sat in it for twenty minutes the first time we visited the store and it was like it was mine already. I resisted though, because of the price, until I saw the rest of the revamped living room looking so great. My whole family had urged me to buy it, to indulge myself, so I thought what the heck? I bought it and had it delivered the same day and am probably happier about it than is natural for a sixty year old man to feel about an object. Oh well. I think it’s important you all know I have an extremely nice place to sit.

We’ve tried to bring in a deluxe load of fish for tomorrow to help us through the cold gusty weather. The featured fish is 2+ yellowfin tuna, 2+ being an industry designation of quality of the tuna. This is just one grade down from the highest rated sushi grade tuna and is perfect left very pink in the middle, just medium seared on both sides. We also have PEI Mussels and squid for calamari. We also have special oysters, Cotuits, from the Cape. These are especially large and deep bellied. Yeah!

Fish arriving tomorrow:

  • Alaskan Cod, flash frozen at sea
  • Dayboat yellow tail sole
  • Sustainable Shetland Salmon
  • Dayboat Haddock
  • Fresh squid, cleaned, tubes and tents
  • Grade 2+Yellowfin Tuna
  • Swordfish
  • Icelandic Arctic Char
  • 16/20 Wild Gulf Shrimp
  • 10/20 Dry Scallops
