Sharon is not going to know this until she reads this post, (she normally reads it five minutes after I finish, when she receives the email), but she’s going to have the chance to eat blueberry pancakes tonight around 11:30p.m. We haven’t been on the healthiest diet for some time, and lately as a “midnight snack” I’ve occasionally been making pancakes. I use the recipe from Joy of Cooking and they are terrific, but tonight they are going to be made with fresh blueberries that just came into the store today. We have an abundance of them, of course, so come in and get some!
Alec and I are going to Saratoga next weekend, to the horse races, and I might not get to speak with you again before we go, so wish us luck!
Sharon has bought new chocolate for the store, called Brooklyn Born, and some of their new flavors are a real treat. The only one I’ve tried so far is their PB&J and that was outstanding.
Someone mentioned salmon “steaks” today. Steaks are when you have a full cross section of the fish in whatever thickness you like, rather than having a filet that is one side of the fish which is what we normally sell at the store. Cutting the steaks poses difficulties for us but they are not insurmountable, so let us know if you fancy salmon steaks and we could give it a try.
Fish arriving tomorrow:
- Alaskan Cod, flash frozen at sea
- east coast halibut
- Sustainable Shetland Salmon
- Dayboat Haddock
- Flounder, 4-6oz filets
- Icelandic Arctic Char
- PEI Mussels
- 16/20 Wild Gulf Shrimp, fresh
- 10/20 Dry Scallops
- Beausoleil oysters, PEI
See you at the Store!
