Managing stress with good food

Hi Folks-

I hardly ever write about my love for the Boston Red Sox or the New England Patriots because I know it bores many of you, but tonight is an embarrassment of riches for me, in terms of sports, and I have to share it. The Red Sox are playing against the Orioles. There are ten games left in the regular season and the Sox are five games up on Baltimore, who is in second place in their division. This is the fourth game in a series between the two and Boston has won the first three games. Go Sox!

Then later tonight the Patriots play Texas and have to use their third string quarterback because Tom Brady is suspended due to Inflategate, and his backup Jim Garropiola was hurt in the last game. So that leaves this rookie, Jacoby Bresette, to take over for the estimable Brady in his absence. I’m so looking forward to watching these games I can’t tell you.

Sharon made something really cool last night after she got home from the store around 6. It’s this arctic char dish where you bake the char and separately make a sauce with spinach, minced, creme fraiche, fresh tarragon and chives then you slowly add cold tablespoons of butter until you have an extremely cool buerre blanc sauce.

Sharon’s making this dish for us, which was excellent,(the sauce, wtih the fresh tarragon was spectacular), signaled to me that i’d better step up my game in the culinary department. She doesn’t know it yet but I’m going to make pancakes later tonight as a late night snack. It’s the least I can do.

The recipe for the char dish can be found here Artic char with creamy spinach sauce
