Little neck clams!

Hi Folks-

Sharon got me the coolest Father’s Day present. She had an automatic car starter installed in my Volvo yesterday. It’s going to be awesome on bitter cold days next January, standing in the kitchen starting my car and then walking out to a warm car ten minutes later. Thanks, Sharon. I kissed her about 5 extra times yesterday.

Something fun to do when you’re grilling outdoors – which I think I’ve tried to talk you into once before – is to throw some littleneck clams onto your grill and have them as a fun small appetizer. All you have to do is place the clams on the grill and when the shell opens you have a delicious steamed clam – nothing better. Dip them in butter, or not. I often will do this when we have a party and it’s always fun to give someone something they love but very seldom get, and I also have talked many people into trying them for the first time which is also fun. Anyway, we’ll have some clams on hand tomorrow if you do want to try them.

I don’t know for sure if we’ve seen the last of them but I was unable to get soft shelled crabs today so it’s looking like the season is drawing to a close. Alaskan Wild King Salmon is still about $30/lb but I will bring it in when it comes down some, which it will.

We have striped bass from Maryland coming in as well as the littleneck clams from Rhode Island. We also have some bluefish which is a good grilling fish.

Fish arriving tomorrow:

  • Alaskan Cod, flash frozen at sea
  • Striped Bass
  • Dayboat yellow tail sole
  • Sustainable Shetland Salmon
  • Dayboat Haddock
  • Yellowfin Tuna
  • Swordfish
  • Icelandic Arctic Char
  • Bluefish
  • Littleneck Clams
  • 16/20 Wild Gulf Shrimp
  • 10/20 Dry Scallops
  • Pemmaquid oysters
