I like at least two people

Hi Folks-

I like people so much. I was just thinking of my friend Bo Muller-Moore, of “eat more kale” fame and fortune. Did you all know that he now has a food stand that sells donuts in front of City Hall five mornings a week. The donuts are small, one or two bites, and Bo serves them freshly hot out of the oil – and they are excellent. Last Saturday morning I bought 25 donuts for about six bucks and Sharon and I ate them with glee and happiness on our way out to Lake Elmore for a beach day. These are like nothing you’ve ever had, they’re so melt in your mouth crispy and tasty in the standard donut fashion.

I was also thinking about the fact that Dan Blanchard will be leaving his job at the market after being with us for many years. As is not often the case I sort of took the lead in hiring Dan. I was at the desk and he walked in with his application, he’d applied before, and he handed it to me and then lingered. Knowing him as I do now I know this must have been difficult for him but he looked me in the eye and asked me why we wouldn’t hire him. It was as if to say ” Hell, I can do this job and you guys won’t give me a try.” I told him to let me consider this, because he impressed me and I knew I hadn’t given it adequate thought, and Sharon and I called him for an interview and he’s worked for us for six years. I’m really going to miss him and I know Sharon will too.

The fish tomorrow is in top of the summer form. Swordfish is beautiful and is I think about $15/lb. We have plenty of halibut and lots of Wild Alaskan Sockeye salmon. Littleneck clams and all the rest of it too. Pemaquid oysters, dayboat haddock,…..
