Instant or Slow Roasted?

Hi Folks-

Fish arriving tomorrow:

A friend was telling me that almost every day on his way to work he’s been going swimming these last few weeks. He said it was better than coffee, and that he liked coffee very much. It made me realize I haven’t gone swimming this year and that the last time I swam was last year and that was in a hotel pool that at least was outside. I think swimming may be one of those elemental things we all should do sometimes , whether the think we feel like it or not. I’m not preaching because I don’t often swim, but I do know that it feels great once you get in.

At the store, we still have those wonderful Pennsylvania peaches coming in daily almost and the cherry tomatoes from 1000 Stone Farm are both great and plentiful. We also have what I think is an exciting and I think innovative product from Carrier Coffee Roasters. For months now Sharon and I have been loving Carrier’s different fresh roasted coffees every morning, or close to it. And you, our customers seem to love it as well, with feedback from many that the fresh whole beans, though expensive, are the greatest.

Well now Carrier is roasting instant coffee. That’s right, just spoon it into hot water and you have coffee. It comes in boxes with six servings each and I can’t wait to try it. I have the day off tomorrow and I’m conducting a taste test. The instant roast of the day is Buenos Aires roast and I also bought a bag of the Buenos Aires whole bean variety, and I’m going to prepare a cup of each and compare. Pretty clever, huh?

Fish arriving tomorrow includes Striped Bass, which we haven’t seen in a while, Halibut, Lemon Sole and our favorite oysters of the year, Pemaquids. Remember that while our cod and shrimp are frozen at sea, all of our other fish, unless we notify you otherwise, is fresh caught. The reason we get our cod frozen is for environmental and sustainability concerns that make what we buy the best choice.

  • Alaskan Cod, flash frozen at sea
  • Striped Bass
  • east coast halibut
  • Sustainable Shetland Salmon
  • Dayboat Haddock
  • Swordfish
  • Icelandic Arctic Char
  • 16/20 Wild Gulf Shrimp, fresh
  • 10/20 Dry Scallops
  • Pemaquid oysters

See you at the Store!
