A good day all around

Hi Folks-

This is an altogether good day, beginning with the obvious love for this weather. Sophia’s dad, Nick, is visiting from Colorado and Sophia is ecstatic with joy, sharing her Vermont life with her dad who is relatively new to Montpelier. There’s also the annual recital put on by the Contemporary Dance and Fitness Studio tomorrow, and Sophia will be performing with two of the groups. Then she gets to play in a soccer game with her Dad in attendance. Then to top it all off, we’ll have a family party at Alec’s house on Saturday with Alec smoking a pork butt and I’m thinking I’m going to grill some Red Snapper. Then as a side note to my great day, Sharon says I look particularly cute with my new haircut. Awesome day, awesome weekend. Yahoo!!

And to contribute to your awesome weekend, we have great fish coming in tomorrow. We’re in the beginning of Soft Shell Crab season and we have a bunch of jumbo crabs coming in tomorrow. Instructions for cleaning them and ideas for cooking them are available if you talk with Sharon. We also have Grade 2+ Yellowfin Tuna, just one step down from Sushi Grade. It’s perfect for grilling and is so good that it’s suitable for Sushi. Red Snapper from the Gulf Coast is also coming in. This is terrific for grilling or broiling, with a slightly sweet tasting meat and a firm texture. We also have Katama Bay oysters, from Martha’s Vineyard, which are perhaps the largest oysters we’ve had, and certainly they are some of the best.

Fish arriving tomorrow:

  • Alaskan Cod, flash frozen at sea
  • Alaskan King Salmon
  • Striped Bass
  • Dayboat yellow tail sole
  • Sustainable Shetland Salmon
  • Dayboat Haddock
  • Yellowfin Tuna
  • Swordfish
  • Icelandic Arctic Char
  • 16/20 Domestic Shrimp
  • 10/20 Dry Scallops
  • Katama Bay oysters
