Doing the lamb thing

Hi Folks-

Okay so we’re back from our stay-cation but are we relaxed, no we’re not relaxed. Sharon is preparing to roast a whole 50lb. lamb over an open fire Saturday. Has she ever done anything remotely like this, not even close. Am I afraid she’s going to ruin a $300 piece of meat? Not really. She’s an intrepid cook. She should write a blog re her exploits.

So further, Sharon ordered a power rotisserie which is powerful enough to cook an eighty pound pig. This makes it quite an expensive party, not that I pay attention to such things. Sharon would tell me to add that Alec is doing a pig and she would like to do a goat later on so really it’s much thriftier than renting.

Tonight we’ve rolled up a third of the width of our badminton net to accommodate the crowd of 35 to 40. Am I relaxed, of course I am. Sharon has skewered the lamb onto the spit. She had to cut the head off because it made it too unwieldy to cook over the fire, as well as cutting the legs off at the ankles. This is the woman I married.

We’ve dug into our fire pit and expanded that by 50%. Tommy Morse is delivering a truck load of wood for the fire tomorrow and we’ve coordinated our son, Charles, to stack the wood. Firewood is not so expensive, I’m taking it in stride.
