Day at the races and a recipe!!

Hi Folks-

Well that was fun! Saratoga rocks. The weather was great, the horses fast and the family was there! Most of my family is pretty dang good at handicapping; taking a plethora of minute details such as track type, training speeds, dam, sires, jockeys etc and coming up with an opinion. I’ve done it, it’s tricky and I, superstitious person that I am, I’m not convinced it’s the way to go.

I read through the details, look for names that tug me (jockey, horse, sire or dam, a fly on the page 🙂 And bet that way. Not my most winning bet ($66.90 thank you) but my favorite was seeing the name Caviar Czar, click, Sire Medaglia D’ora Dam Lemonade Goddess. This was a horse that tugged and made sense to my foodie within. He won and I got 37 dollars, made my day. Every body laughed, as they should, when somebody who hasn’t a clue gets lucky. Day two at the races somebody pointed out to me that he was owned by Bobby Flay so yes, Mom, confirmed foodie horse.

Hey here’s the link for the Provencal tomato and squash gratin aka tomato pie, several people have asked for it. You get a complimentary look I believe but if you can’t open it let me know, I’ll copy and paste
