What to have on the Fourth

Hi Folks-

Having worked this weekend I awoke in a panic last night thinking I had forgotten to write to all of you. After a few minutes of calculation I realized it was actually Sunday so it was all okay, whew.

That being said we are closed on Saturday for the Fourth of July. We will be open our regular hours on Friday and opening again at nine on Sunday.

Why not check out the festivities in Montpelier on Friday and then swing by and pick up your BBQ ingredients for Saturday. Ordering something for Friday during the week means you know it’s going to be there.

We always have great fish, steaks, chicken, sausages and pork and also some great rubs and marinades to take your meal out of the ordinary. Not going to grill? Or maybe going somewhere they’ve got the grill and you’re bringing a side? How about doing a bang up cheese /charcuterie plate? Beautiful meats, cheeses, dips and crackers abound. Make a chopped salad with local organic greens, Maine tomatoes, English cucumbers and mango. Feeling hospitable but lazy? Grab a six of craft beer and some unusual wine and call it a day.

Summer is seriously upon us. Heady Topper day was intense today and while I love almost all of these customers their intensity as we near a holiday blows my mind a little. A woman called today and asked if it was in, I said no, then she wanted to know exactly when it would be. I gave her the time range (11 to 1 is when it shows up). Deep sigh on her part and then “Alright, then I’ll call every 15 minutes,” deep silence on my part and then I said “I’d really rather you wouldn’t, just show up around one and you should be okay.” While that might have seemed like a workable solution to her, multiply that times 20 people and you can see how my head almost popped off. Ah well, all gone in an hour and a half, people with sandwiches thanked gratefully!
