It’s feeling a little fallish out there and I love it, it’s my favorite time of year! I do honestly yearn after my sweaters and jeans about this time every August …soon!
I looked at Peter on Tuesday the 22nd and said “Hey honey, guess what, we bought this place ten years ago today!” August 22, 2007, what a long crazy run its been and we are still digging it. We didn’t open until October 2nd so that’s when we will have a birthday party at the store but the 22nd is when we made the big leap :-).
So it has come to my attention that the Montpelier food pantry is in pretty dire need at this point. Peter and I have both contributed some and I bought a couple of cases of things for them to have but they could really use all of our help so I’m asking you all to chip in too. Hungry people make my heart hurt. Here’s their website, because cash will work too Montpelier Food Pantry and here’s what they had to say about donating:
“Friends, the Montpelier Food Pantry is experiencing a very high volume of folks needing food. Our stores are depleted. Please donate as generously as you are able: canned veggies, tomato products, fruit, soups, meals in a can, tuna and peanut butter.
Items may be dropped off into bins at Shaws (Montpelier & Berlin stores) and Price Chopper, or at the Food Pantry (137 Main St): Tuesdays 10-12, Wed. 10-11 & 4-6, Thurs. 10-11:30, Friday 10-11.”
So do that and feel good.
We are having a wine sale, again, finally, sometimes life just gets away from me. I realized I was looking at a sign that said “spring wines” and that it was time to get it together. So Wine Sale and it’s a bunch of our favorite wines that we drink with great pricing. Luigi Bosca Pinot Noir, usually $23.99 marked down to $18.99; A Proper Claret by Bonny Doon, usually $19.79 marked down to $14.59; Berger Gruner Veltliner $15.69 to $13.69; Bieler Rose from $13.59 down to $11.59; Uncaged a California red blend from $20.89 down to $15.69. These are deals! So try them and if you order a case before the end of August I can give you another 10% off that. So see if any them appeal. We sure like ’em.
