Rambutan, 3cup chicken and some great fish deals!

Hi Folks-

A bunch of fun things tonight. First, what we just had for dinner. I was about to default to shrimp and some sort of creamy pasta sauce but wasn’t really feeling it so I went to cookingnytimes and made Three-Cup Chicken by Sam Shifton. Small number of ingredients, most of which I had at the store, quick turnaround time and adjustable heat, which is important to me because I don’t like rocket fuel hot (I only added about 1/2 a teaspoon of red pepper flakes instead of the whole tsp called for). You can find the recipe here Three-Cup Chicken. I added broccoli at the end, to add to the veg count. I also stir fried the garlic, ginger and scallion and removed before doing the chicken. Finally, right before adding the basil, I added a 1/2 TBL of cornstarch blended with soy sauce and let that bubble and thicken. And we have a winner, delicious and simple so we will be making it again.

Way cooler is what we had for dessert. Rambutan, check out this picture Hairy little critters. I saw them at Shaw’s when I went to get basil and they were irresistible, I knew Sophia would dig them. Very cool and more importantly quite tasty definitely a fun dinner party ending :-). Maybe also good for Halloween?

Lastly, before we get to the fish I’m sure many of you have noticed that we are selling quite a few of the Piece of Earth Farm’s sprouts. I think it is so cool to have local green things at this time of the year! And here is a way to support that – they are looking for some crowd funding and I said I would share it. Root Cellar passive cooler. Check it out!
