Well the snow makes it feel a lot more like December than it did last year and I’m glad. I am definitely feeling the holiday season this year. For the first time since we opened the store I believe I am going to have it all done by the end of this week and I am psyched. I love Christmas at the store but it has tended to have an impact on our personal festivities. We are much better at it than when we first opened, I think it was year four that Chelsea looked at me and said “I know we have a store but do you think we could have Christmas this year?” Definitely a wince creating moment for a mom!
Sophia and I did the full Christmas cookies this weekend and had a blast. I found a recipe for making cookie paints that had us blending colored sanding sugar with just enough vodka to soften into paint (we are talking less than a ¼ teaspoon) but I must say I had a serious belly laugh when Sophia yelled out “Grandma I think we are going to need more vodka!”

White flower, golden apple on the nose. Creamy, dry, full and elegant structure. Certified Organic, estate grown and bottled fruit. Smashing as an aperitif or with oysters, other shellfish or desserts!
Domaine Bousquet, Argentina $14.59
Golden color with delicate bubbles. Argentina exports almost no sparkling wine which is fascinating because almost every single vineyard makes it. According to my sources, they drink it all themselves and it is served at the beginning of almost every meal, my kind of place! This has lovely aromas of rich tropical fruit with citrus and strawberry. Another great choice with seafood, salmon in particular and Asian dishes.
Ecco Terreno, 2013 Barrel Aged Chardonnay, CA $28.99
“A retro, 70’s California style Chardonnay that has a silky texture with Yellow Apple fruit and good acidity, but not overdone with oak.” This from the winemaker and having tasted it I agree! Chardonnay can be un-lovely if over-oaked and too sharp if un-oaked. This is beautifully balanced and with it’s velvety mouth feel, perfect with food!
Mahu Sauvignon Blanc, 2015 Chile $12.49
This is a lovely wine that really represents how the Chilean wine industry has matured but is still a great value. This wine is refreshing and zesty with flavors of lemon, lime and passion fruit. The wine is dry and mineral driven on the finish. Perfect for fish, especially ceviche, as well salads, avocado and grilled chicken.
Schug 2015, Cabernet Sauvignon, SV CA $26.99
Ripe flavors of currant and cherry and a touch of spicy oak. It has a beautiful old school cab bouquet with berries and spice. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot are blended in to add depth and elegance. Try this wine with hearty stews, wild mushrooms and grilled meats. Though ready to enjoy now, it will develop gracefully with 5 to 7 years of additional cellar
