Hi From the stay home kids and a squid recipe!

Hi Folks-

Back in the saddle for just a day or two. We have had a marvelous stay-cation. We perfected the art of literally doing nothing and it was so restful. We were in today and will be in tomorrow then we are headed out for the remainder of the week. We have a trade show to attend, which means more fun stuff at the store. It’s in Portsmouth, which is one of our favorite spots to hang out, so we are staying for an extra day. Pretty city and great restaurants, our kind of town.

Tomorrow night I am trying a stuffed calamari recipe from the NY Times Stuffed Calamari, I had Peter buy enough calamari so that some other intrepid soul could try it too!

High points of the stay-cation definitely included our meals at Down Home for breakfast and Kismet for dinner. Kismet is expensive but it is also worth every penny you spend, the meal was phenomenal, we had the local filet mignon with rutabaga puree and horseradish cream. So much more satisfying to spend a lot and have something truly delicious than to spend 40.00 dollars less and think, huh, I could have cooked that way better.

The fish tomorrow:

  • Dayboat Haddock

  • Icelandic Arctic Char

  • Swordfish

  • Alaskan Cod. Frozen at sea

  • 2+Yellowfin Tuna

  • Squid (frozen, tubes and tents, mostly for me but there is some available 😉

  • Shetland Salmon

  • Yellow tail sole, dayboat

  • 10/20 Dry Scallops

  • 16/20 Shrimp

  • Pemaquid oysters, ME
