Happy Thanksgiving

Hi Folks-

Usually I race home from work on Mondays and write the post to you all. Tonight I raced home from work and made Enchiladas con carne. They were delightful. It was a NYT recipe from Sam Shifton and I particularly liked how he put together the sauce. You start by browning flour, all by it self and setting it aside, then you brown the ground beef and set that aside and add the onions, garlic and chili pepper. Add a cup of chopped tomatoes, lots of spices, once that’s fragrant you add back in the beef and the flour, mix well and slowly add chicken stock. It was new spin on roux for me and the result was really flavorful. Enchiladas Con Carne I think I needed something extremely un-Thanksgiving like for dinner!

The market is stocked with big beautiful brussel sprouts, green beans and all the vegetables sides you might need. We also have a real handle on appetizers, smoked gouda dip is out there, fat salty olives, peeled and de-veined shrimp are in the freezer, there are a couple of brie en croute floating around in the freezer too. Our cheese selection is beautiful and if you need help picking out complimentary jams for the cheeses or other ideas please ask!

We are closed on Thanksgiving day but will be open regular hours on Friday. Fish will come in Friday am as usual (we will be ordering Wednesday, so if you want something for the weekend be sure to call by Wednesday).

Next week begins the market countdown to Straight up holiday season and we will be putting out a grand list of what can be ordered and when it needs to ordered by. Great time to start contemplating food aside from turkey :-).
