I haven’t been feeling well all week and have stayed home from work as a result. The last two days having done little of a productive nature, I had occasion once again to be thankful for the gifts I received for Christmas this year from Sharon.
First, I discovered a TV series on Amazon, called, “Goliath.” It stars Billy Bob Thornton, one of my favorites, playing a washed up lawyer who had founded what became a huge and powerful law practice but who had taken to the bottle and now eked out an existance practicing law only for his down and out friends, while living on the beach in a motel. He ends up taking on his old firm, headed by William Hurt, in a huge lawsuit vs a defense-industry mega company. There were eight episodes which I watched on my large Christmas tv. I definitely recommend this series.
The second gift which I enjoyed with dinner tonight was a pint of duck fat Sharon put in my stocking. Actually the last tablespoon was used tonight to make oven baked french fries. We had never thought of using duck fat until Sharon found it at Price Chopper before Christmas, and since then she’s used it for many fried food recipes as a substitute for vegetable oil. It’s very tasty. We’re trying to source it so we can sell it at the market, but until we do, Price Chopper carries it as well as the Co-op, I think.
