I almost couldn’t get out of the kayak

Hi Folks-

Sharon and I had a very fun Fourth of July. Sharon has been saying for some time that we should buy or rent kayaks so Saturday this weekend we went to Wrightsville, where we heard they rented kayaks, and we rented two kayaks for an hour. This was a lot for us. Though we both have somewhat athletic pasts, for the past few years we’ve done nothing that involves exercise and we suffer for that. The kayaks were exercise for sure and we had a great time, though I hope there were no videos taken of me getting out of the kayak when it was over. Very embarrassing if there were a film of that. Oh well.

I was very proud to see Bernie in our parade. He was the highlight for me. He’s accomplished so much in the past year and is still so integrally involved, I thought it was pretty cool of him to faithfully walk in Montpelier’s Fourth of July parade as has been his custom since he was elected to Congress.

On an even more fun note, and maybe in fact this was the highlight of the parade for me, was Chelsea riding her motorbike in the parade to support Charlie O’s, our family bar. Sharon and I met there, Chels used to work there and we all still have fun there. But anyway, Chelsea was particularly tickled by overhearing , and I quote Chelsea here, “two little girls in flower dresses, maybe 6 y.o., and the first one said “Wow, I like her bike!” and the second one replied with “I like HER! She is awesome!”

And she was awesome, a very pretty patriot on a big ass bike, riding the streets.

We have great fish and meats for sale this weekend. Eat it up, it’s so good. We have Alaskan King Salmon which has settled down to a cost of $22 to $24/lb and that’s probably what it will continue to be for the rest of the season. We have Halibut from the East coast and Arctic Char and we have littlenecks and Duxbury oysters from the Cape.

Fish arriving tomorrow:

  • Alaskan Cod, flash frozen at sea
  • Alaskan King Salmon
  • East Coast Halibut
  • Dayboat yellow tail sole

  • Dayboat Haddock
  • 2+ Yellowfin Tuna
